This policy explains what personal information we collect through www.john-torrens.com, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who we are

This website is operated by True Rock (Pty) Ltd, company registration number 2019/461898/07. True Rock (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for the personal information collected through this website.

2. Information we collect

• When you place an order: your name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery address, and the details of what you ordered.
• When you contact us: your name, email address, phone number and the message you send through our contact form.
• When you join our mailing list: your email address.
• When you browse the website: basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type, which our hosting provider records in server logs.

3. How we use your information

• To process, deliver and support your order.
• To send you order confirmations and delivery updates.
• To reply to your messages.
• To send you news and updates, but only if you have joined our mailing list.
• To keep the records that tax and accounting law requires.
• To keep the website secure and working properly.

4. Payments

Payments are processed by Payfast. Your card or bank details are entered on Payfast’s secure page and are never seen or stored by us. Payfast tells us only whether your payment succeeded.

5. Who we share your information with

We share your information only where it is needed to complete your order or run this website:

• Payfast, to process your payment.
• Bob Go and its courier partners, who receive your name, delivery address and contact details so that they can deliver your parcel and send you tracking updates.
• Our website hosting and email providers, who store data on our behalf.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

6. Marketing messages

We send news and updates only to people who have joined our mailing list. You can ask to be removed at any time by emailing admin@john-torrens.com.

7. Cookies

This website uses only the cookies and browser storage it needs to work, such as remembering what is in your cart and keeping your checkout session active. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies.

8. How long we keep your information

We keep order records for as long as the law requires, including tax and accounting rules. We keep messages and mailing list details for as long as they are needed for the purpose you gave them to us, or until you ask us to delete them.

9. Keeping your information safe

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. The website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.

10. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

• ask what personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct or delete it;
• object to how we use it; and
• withdraw your consent to marketing at any time.
